Lucinda Preston, Labour’s candidate for Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner, commenting on today’s HMIC report, said:
"It's very worrying to hear that the assessment of sex offenders by Lincolnshire Police isn't being carried out as quickly as it should be. This needs to have the highest priority, and it will do if I'm elected on May 5th. I'd also expect to see the force improve the way it responds to reports that children are missing.
"While there are many areas in which Lincolnshire Police are rightfully praised in the HMIC report, it's clearly difficult to make improvements when the force is starved of cash. This shows that the Government needs to adequately fund Lincolnshire Police.
“If I am elected in May I will be fighting for a fair funding for Lincolnshire to ensure that our police have the money and resources available to them to carry out their duties and keep our communities safe for all.”
