Pubs Minister practices pulling pints!

John Healey MP and Emilie OldknowJohn Healey, MP, Labour's newly appointed Minister for Pubs, practiced pulling pints under the guidance of landlords Terry and Elaine Pownall at the Little John Inn, Ravenshead, last Thursday, 11th February.

Accompanied by Emilie Oldknow, Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Sherwood, the Minister heard first hand about the problems facing the pub industry and in particular, those in rural areas.

The Pownall’s, who took over the Little John about fifteen months ago, confirmed their commitment to running a top class village pub, providing good food and hosting community events.

John said: "I was very impressed with my visit to the Little John Pub in Ravenshead. It was a pleasure to meet with the landlords, Elaine and Terry, and to see exactly how they have worked hard to turn the Little John back into a vibrant local business.

"We know that local pubs are at the heart of our local communities and they are facing some tough times at the moment. Although we can't save every local pub, I am determined to do what I can to help support them."
