Nottinghamshire 2017

Nottinghamshire Labour Group have announced their election pledges for the County Council elections taking place on Thursday 4th May 2017.

After delivering all of the election pledges we made in 2013, and more, we are today making more pledges to the residents of Nottinghamshire and you can trust us to deliver these again if we are elected into office on the 4th May 2017.

The Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council and the Leader of the Labour Group - County Councillor Alan Rhodes said:

‘Our election pledges come on the back of four years of hard work delivering for the communities of Nottinghamshire, despite huge cuts to our budget from the Conservative Government.

"We will always stand up for Nottinghamshire and that is why our pledges are about protecting the most vulnerable, looking after young and old, investing in Nottinghamshire’s future and protecting our communities.

"Whilst the Tories under Councillor Kay Cutts during their period of office between 2009 and 2013 ran a programme of cuts, closures, and redundancies, Labour puts the communities of Nottinghamshire first. We have proven to Nottinghamshire that we can protect jobs and improve frontline services, we have invested in children’s services and services for the elderly, we have supported local businesses and worked with multi-national companies to bring jobs into the area and we have managed the council’s finances responsibly. Your vital services are safe with Labour at Nottinghamshire County Council, don’t put them at risk’

Labour believes in putting the communities of Nottinghamshire first, that’s why we have delivered all of our promises and we will deliver again. We believe our communities deserve better than how the Conservatives  treats us, whether it is cuts to the funding for our schools, the underfunding of adult social care and health services or a hike in tax for the self-employed. Labour stands up for our communities and we continue to be the only political party to campaign for fairer funding for Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Labour has a great record of serving our communities and our pledges are a promise of more to come.
