Working hard for the people of the East Midlands
Labour Party members in Northampton North have today, Saturday, selected Sally Keeble as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate.
Sally was selected following a ballot of Labour Party members who live in the Northampton North constituency.
Following the selection Sally said: "I am incredibly honoured to have been selected by the members of Northampton North Labour Party to stand as their prospective parliamentary candidate at the next general election.
"The Tory-led government is doing nothing to help families here in Northampton who are feeling the pinch. There is growing anger over cuts to tax credits and child benefit, the freeze on pensions and the increased cost of petrol and fuel bills. Their cuts to the Education Maintenance Allowance and increase of tuition fees are making things harder for our young people to get on in life.
"All this is happening at the same time as the Tory-led government awards a tax break to the richest in our society – it is clear that Northampton North needs a Labour MP who will stand up for local people.
"But we cannot be complacent, we need to rebuild trust between local people and the Labour Party and show people that we are on their side. Between now and the general election I am committed to getting out there and listening to local people about the issues that are affecting them and how we can make Northampton an even better and fairer place to live."
Linda Brede, Chair of Northampton North Labour Party said: "The members of Northampton North Labour Party have had five excellent candidates to choose from and I would like to congratulate Sally on being selected as our candidate for Northampton North.
"Sally has the full support of Northampton North Labour Party and we are looking forward to working with Sally as we campaign towards the next general election."
