Responding to the announcement of 2,600 job losses across Rolls Royce, Léonie Mathers, Candidate for Sherwood, said:
"It’s obviously a really worrying time for all the workers at Rolls Royce and their families right now. The company have given me an assurance that these latest job losses won't hit the Hucknall site, which is good news, but until they set out a long term plan for Rolls Royce in Hucknall, I'll be keeping up the pressure.
"Unfortunately, the current MP's hesitancy to back plans to bring hundreds of supply-chain jobs into Hucknall around the existing Rolls Royce site won't have filled the company, or local people, with any confidence. This Government keep promising an economic recovery, now it's time for them to pull their finger out and back decent well-paid jobs in British companies like Rolls Royce."
