We were delighted to welcome Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, Ed Balls MP, to Loughborough yesterday, Thursday 17th October, where he visited Fisher Scientific before campaigning with local Labour Party members in the Shepshed West by-election.
Ed, who was joined on the visit by Labour’s PPC for Loughborough, Matthew O’Callaghan, was given a tour of the workshop by employee Jill Dean and met with apprentices and student placements.
Ed and Matthew were given an overview of the company’s future goals and their pledge to invest in future talent through apprenticeships and student placements.
The visit highlighted Labour’s pledge for a compulsory Jobs Guarantee for young people and long-term unemployed adults.
Following the visit to Fisher Scientific, Ed joined Jane Lennie (Labour’s candidate) and local party members to campaign in the Shepshed West by-election.
