Labour's Lucinda Preston to cut PCC salary if elected

If elected, Labour's Police and Crime Commissioner candidate, Lucinda Preston, says her first act will be to cut her own salary and use the money to prevent young people turning to crime instead.

Lucinda said:

"The role of Lincolnshire PCC comes with a large salary, which many people believe is excessive. It's the opportunity to help improve policing in Lincolnshire that I care about, not a fat pay check. If voters choose me,  I will accept no more than the amount that I currently earn as a teacher.  The  money I plan to sacrifice, will instead be used to fund community projects which will engage with young people at risk of offending.

"Good policing is about enforcement but we also need to look at what else we can do to prevent young people turning to a life of crime in the first place.

" My plan would result in more than £80,000 of extra funding being made available to help reduce offending over the course of my 4 year term in office.

" I am looking to work with groups that can demonstrate a proven track record of success.

"I am therefore inviting existing organisations that work with young people to submit expressions of interest via my website www.lucinda4lincs.co.uk ,or my official campaign e-mail address, Lucinda4lincs@outlook.com.
