Working hard for the people of the East Midlands
The Labour Party has today, Saturday 22nd January, announced that Stephen Yemm has been selected as the Labour Party candidate for the Mansfield Mayoral election.
Stephen, who is currently a Director of a technology company, was selected following a postal ballot of all Mansfield members.
On his selection Stephen said: "As a Mansfield resident born and bred, I am delighted at the incredible support that I have received from the Mansfield members and I am honoured to be their candidate for the forth coming Mayoral election.
"As a local person I know Mansfield and the challenges that we face in the future. Mansfield has a lot to be proud of, but it also needs strong leadership in order for it to continue to grow. It's time for a change, people here have had enough of being ignored and not having the right leadership to take the town forward.
"They deserve to have a Mayor that is going to stand up for them and who will fight against the Conservative - led government's cuts, which will only cause more hardship for local people and families. This is a new beginning for Mansfield and I am looking forward to getting out there to meet local people and campaigning on the important issues for the town."
