Working hard for the people of the East Midlands
The Deputy Leader of Nottingham City Council, Cllr Graham Chapman, has called on the Government to ensure the A453 is included in its multi-billion pound economic kick start.
Nottingham City Council has long called for more capital investment in our transport network and infrastructure to promote jobs and growth and with the Government unveiling a long awaited Plan B Cllr Chapman hopes the A453 will soon be on the move.
Cllr Chapman said: “So far the Government has favoured the South. Its time the Midlands got a look in and the A453 is a vital investment for Nottingham. It was all set to go before this Government halted development. But with the Government set to find billions to invest in capital projects such as roads and railways it’d be a grave error if the A453 wasn’t included.”
“The A453, like the money we’re investing in the tram and station, will bring jobs during construction and stimulate economic growth in the long term with 21st transport links.” Cllr Chapman continued.
“I say to the Government: if the A453 isn’t on your list ahead of the Chancellor’s statement tomorrow there is still time for a rethink. It’ll repay itself many times over in jobs created and efficiency for local transport and industry.” Cllr Chapman concluded
