Glenis Willmott has been an MEP for the East Midlands since 2006 and Leader of the European Parliamentary Labour Party since 2009.

In the European Parliament Glenis is a full member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee. Responsibilities of the committee include environmental protection measures, regulating pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, and taking measures to ensure our food is safe and properly labelled.

She is also a member of the Delegation to the EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee.

Glenis is a substitute member of the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee, which deals with the fundamental rights of citizens, discrimination, migration and judicial matters. I’m also a substitute member of the Delegation for relations with the United States.

Glenis is a member of Labour's National Executive Committee and attends meetings of the Shadow Cabinet.

Rory Palmer

Rory Palmer is Labour's deputy city mayor of Leicester. He was elected as a councillor in 2007. As deputy city mayor Rory has led efforts to tackle youth unemployment including the introduction of new council apprenticeships and paid work placements.

He has campaigned for new investment across the East Midlands, including the upgrade of the Midland Mainline and to protect manufacturing. Rory chairs the Leicester Child Poverty Commission, which he set up in 2011.

Rory has campaigned for Labour across the East Midlands and is a member of Labour's Regional Board and National Policy Forum. He was born and grew up in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

Linda Woodings

Linda Woodings is a CWU representative working in BT.  She is the regional political officer for the East Midlands CWU and also negotiates for call-centre workers.

Linda campaigns to protect and improve employment rights; to protect the postal service and to restore call-centre jobs back to the UK.  Linda is currently campaigning to close loopholes in the Equal Treatment for Agency Workers legislation and for call centre workers to receive a Living Wage.

Linda regularly campaigns in the East Midlands target seats and on national and local by-elections.  She is a member of the National Policy Forum and the Labour party regional board.  She is currently the chair of Nottingham South CLP and is also a magistrate on the Nottingham bench.

Khalid Hadadi

Khalid Hadadi is a Brussels based European Affairs Manager for Channel 4. Khalid has extensive experience of European policy having worked as Senior Adviser for the BBC’s EU and International Policy team for ten years. He has previously worked as Employment Guidance Worker for Leicester City Council and carried out extensive voluntary work focussing on urban regeneration in Leicester.

Khalid’s policy interests include; how the European Union can connect better with citizens, employment, social justice, third sector, international development and human rights. Khalid Hadadi attended schools in Leicester and studied Economics and Agricultural Economics at the University of Nottingham. He is a member of the GMB trade union.

Nicki Brooks

Nicki Brooks is a Gedling Borough Councillor and Chief Whip. She has been an active member of The Labour Party for over 20 years and is currently vice-chair of Gedling CLP. Nicki has been involved in successful campaigns to re-elect Vernon Coaker MP and the taking control of Gedling Borough in 2011. She is a member of the GMB and the Co-operative Party. Nicki believes passionately about issues of equality, fairness at work, clamping down on tax avoidance and the environment.

Nicki runs Respect for Animals an organisation that campaigns internationally against the cruel and unnecessary fur trade. As part of this work she has been at the forefront of lobbying in the European Union that has led to the bans on the import of fur from seals and cats and dogs. This has given her extensive insight and experience as to how the EU works and the role of an MEP. Nicki is a Trustee of the Gedling Conservation Trust which owns and manages the largest nature reserve in Gedling borough, is Secretary of Labour Animal Welfare Society, a national body working to raise the profile of animal issues within the Labour Party.
