Working hard for the people of the East Midlands
![]()
Young people are a key part of Labour's work in the East Midlands. Last year, across the region hundreds of young people participated in dozens of events: ranging from campaigning to Q and As with ministers; from attending dinners to promoting the Hope Not Hate message.
Most of the biggest groups are the University Labour Clubs such as Nottingham, Derby and Loughborough. However, these groups are not solely for students and allow anyone under the age of 26 to participate. What's more over the last 12 months there's been a resurgence in Young Labour groups. This has seen groups set up in the region, most recently in Mansfield.
If you'd like to find out about your nearest group, next activity or social or how to set up a group in your area please get in touch with the East Midlands Regional Office on 0115 943 1777, and we will direct you to the Chair in your local area. There are lots of ways to get involved, no experience is necessary and all activities are friendly and informal!

East Midlands Young Labour Conference 2011 ![]()
The East Midland's Labour Party held their 2011 Young Labour Conference on Saturday 22nd January. The event was a huge success with young members from throughout the East Midlands coming along to hear from guest speakers including Caroline Flint MP, Lilian Greenwood MP and Unison's Ravi Subramanian.
Our guest speakers were asked questions on a wide range of issues including the AV vote, standing for local government and the future role of trade unions.
We also held various policy debates where members discussed their ideas on a variety of policy themes which will now be fed back into the National Policy Forum.
