Dan Jarvis MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Minister, has embarked on a nine day tour which will take him through nine regions, stopping off at key constituencies across the country that will decide May's General Election. Today, Tuesday, the tour hit the East Midlands.
The ‘Nine days, nine regions’ tour kicked off five days ago and today, on day six, Dan joined Labour’s candidates in Loughborough, Amber Valley and Sherwood.
During his time in the East Midlands Dan met with students in Loughborough to answer their questions about politics and the importance of registering to vote, older people in Amber Valley where he discussed Labour’s pledge to cap energy bills and residents in Sherwood where he talked about the cost of living crisis.
Speaking following today’s visits to the East Midlands, Dan said: “The East Midlands will be playing a vital role in setting out who our next Prime Minister is. Labour has a fantastic team of candidates here and I am delighted to have joined some of them today.
“Only a Labour government will deal with the cost of living crisis by taking immediate action to deal with the pressures facing families. Only Labour will freeze gas and electricity prices, build 200,000 new homes, help working parents by providing 25 hours of free childcare for three and four year olds, and protect our NHS by recruiting 20,000 new nurses.
“Labour is the only party that can bring Britain together, and I'm looking forward to talking to people today about the difference we will make.”
