Following an all members meeting, held today, Saturday 14th March, Grantham and Stamford Labour Party have chosen Barrie Fairbairn, a Graduate Chemist who became a Solicitor, to be Labour's candidate in the General Election on the 7th of May 2015.
Following the selection Barrie said: “I am honoured that Labour Party members in Grantham and Stamford have put their trust in me as their candidate for this year’s general election and I promise that I won’t let them down.
“The Tories’ plan is failing working families here in Grantham and Stamford because they choose to prioritise helping a few at the top.
“The choice at this election is between a failing plan and a better plan for working families. Labour’s plan offers a better future: for living standards, for the next generation, and for the NHS.
“Labour will support families by increasing childcare, boosting the minimum wage and freezing energy bills. We’ll support our young people by dropping tuition fees to £6,000 and by getting our young people back into work. We’ll also protect our NHS by recruiting 20,000 more nurses and 8,000 more GPs as well as guaranteeing an appointment at your doctors within 48 hours for those that need it.
“Grantham and Stamford cannot afford five more years of the Tories. We need an MP that will work hard to give local people a voice in Westminster and who will stand up and fight for our hard-working families and businesses."
